The African Union announces the composition of the Ad-hoc High Level Committee on Libya

Following consultations undertaken by Dr. Jean Ping, Chairperson of the Commission of
the African Union (AU), in pursuance of the communique on the situation in Libya
adopted by the 265th meeting of the AU Peace and Security Council held in Addis
Ababa, on 10 March 2011, the AU Ad hoc High Level Committee on Libya will be
composed of their Excellencies the Heads of State of the following AU members:
- Islamic Republic of Mauritania
- Republic of Congo
- Republic of Mali
- Republic of South Africa
- Republic of Uganda
The Chairperson of the African Union Commission is also a member of the Committee.
Consultations are underway for the Committee to urgently begin its work.
It is to be recalled that the Ad-hoc High Level Committee was set up by the PSC
meeting to engage with all parties in Libya, facilitate an inclusive dialogue among them,
and engage AU partners, as part of the overall efforts, for the speedy resolution of the
crisis in Libya.
